Observe how Swift includes several irregularities in this sentence. The participial phrase, 'finding,' etc., has no subject. There is a confusion between the phrases 'turned out opposite' and 'answered ill.' Lastly, 'how could it avoid' has a reference only to the general meaning which the sentence conveys.
