In his voluminous "History of the Rebellion" (1702-4), Edward Hyde, first Earl of Clarendon summarizes the trial and execution of Charles I in one paragraph. He explains his brevity by the reasons Hume gives, but also refers to an extended account of these events available elsewhere.
